What happens when you mix a high-stakes industry problem with a room full of Systems and Control students? On February 10, DSA Kalman hosted ASML for a hands-on case study that brought a real-world edge to the classroom.
Four ASML representatives introduced a complex challenge straight from their daily work, tailored specifically for our Master’s track. Students dived in in teams, with just two hours to brainstorm and build a solution. Throughout the session, the ASML engineers were on hand for guidance, offering helpful hints—and the occasional reality check.
The real test came during the presentations. In a fun (and slightly intense) twist, the ASML team stepped into the role of the customer, pushing back on assumptions and asking the kind of tough questions you only hear in the field. It was a perfect taste of the pressure and reward of working in the industry.
To decompress, we wrapped up with well-earned drinks, where students and engineers chatted casually about careers, control theory, and everything in between.
A massive thanks to ASML for such an interactive session. We’re already looking forward to the next round!
