Mainblades Inspections – Opportunities

April 23, 2019 by Rudolf in Industry News

This time we want to present you the possibilities at Mainblades Inspections! As you might know, this company uses a drone to inspect large commercial aircraft aiming to reduce turnaround times, especially when the plane has to go under unscheduled inspections.

To achieve all this they are always on the hunt for the best talents in the fields of motion planning and control for the drone itself, and AI for the vision and learning part.

As this innovative startup is gaining more and more traction, they are now looking for new people to join them in their mission. They are currently are offering the following graduation project:

  • Active learning using deep learning for damage detection. A key aspect of the automated inspection is the ability to detect damage from the images making use of computer vision techniques and algorithms. During this research you will focus on active learning, using disagreements between the model and human feedback to identify “hard” examples, and optimize for performance on those by modifying the training algorithm.

For those who are interested, the company also has some very interesting open vacancies:

  • Robotics software engineer. In this position, you will be responsible for the autonomous navigation of the inspection drone, both in terms of mapping and localization as well as the development of the navigation stack. You will also have to test the navigation stack in the real world and in a simulation environment.
  • AI software engineer. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and deploying of the computer vision stack while investigating and solving exciting and difficult challenges in feature recognition, classification, and deep learning.

If any of these jobs peak your interest, visit their website and send them an email. If you prefer it also possible for us to introduce you, just drop us an email.

Do not forget to check out our career page for more details on this and many more opportunities!

Cheers!
