Junior Docenten
Website The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology
So many vacancies… but you really can’t miss this one! TU Delft is a global player and driven to make a social impact. Every day, we’re taking a step towards a better world. We offer a unique three-year university work/study program: “Teach at Delft University of Technology and obtain a teaching qualification in Mathematics/Physics for secondary education.”
Job description
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Delft University of Technology is seeking candidates for a pool of junior lecturers who, under the supervision of a senior lecturer, will contribute to the faculty’s teaching and, in parallel, obtain a teaching qualification in Mathematics or Physics at pre-university education (VWO) or intermediate vocational education (MBO/HBO).
We are currently looking for two new colleagues.
In this three-year program, you’ll spend approximately 50% of your time obtaining a teaching qualification in Physics or Mathematics. Internships in secondary education and/or higher vocational education are part of this. The remaining time, you’ll participate in faculty teaching and learn from the many experienced lecturers around you. You’ll supervise working groups for first-year courses such as Statics, Strength of Materials, Dynamics, and Thermofluids, or project groups in the higher years. You’ll develop assignments and supervise student assistants associated with first- and second-year working groups. You’ll also support master’s programs taught within one of the various departments.
A day in the life of a Junior teacher:
In the morning, I’ll first head to my internship school. Today I have two classes scheduled: in 5VWO (pre-university education) I’ll be covering materials and materials, and in 2HAVO (senior general secondary education) we’ll be doing a practical. I have a few hours between classes: first, I’ll process the feedback I received from my subject coach. Then, I have a video call with the lecturer for the master’s course at TU Delft, whom I’ll be assisting with. Together, we’ll finalize the job description for student assistants for the master’s course so we can start recruiting in the coming weeks. After my class in 2HAVO (pre-university education), I’ll head back to TU Delft for a few project supervision sessions with the first-year mechanical engineering students. Finally, I’ll meet with my working group for the Educational Sciences course in my teacher training program: our report is due next week, so we’ll be finalizing the details next week. After that, it’s time for drinks at the Lagerhuysch with the other junior lecturers!
